Well, gee, this is so unexpected.
I don't have a speech prepared or anything. I'm just so awed and humbled to be awarded this Kreativ Blogger award by Jenny, Parker & Skye of the blog Of Pitbulls & Patience. Thank you so much! You guys rock and we love reading your posts. Your recent posts Sharing is Caring - Apparently and Sharing is Caring - Unless You're a Dog have got the Mama looking at mine and the Felix's relationship in a whole new light. Apparently, we should work on this.
I want to thank my friends at the Tanner Brigade and the amazing Moi Squad. Thanks to the Mama and the Felix and even the Daddy. Thanks to all the wonderful folks who join us for Tasty Tuesday and to those who have submitted questions for Ask Kolchak. Thanks to all of you - the people and the pups who keep me motivated day upon day to keep barking. You guys are the best! I just want to thank the dog down the street and that little terrier I went to puppy class with. Big thanks to the grey dog that from the park...
Hey! What are you doing?! Are you...playing me off? I wasn't even done my speech yet?! I had at least 112 more people to thank! **le sigh** Maybe next time, I guess. If I didn't get chance to thank you, I really wanted to. You are fantastic.
Like all things worth having, a Kreativ Blogger comes with a titch of work.
I need to tell you 7 things you don't know about me. Let's do it!

I need to tell you 7 things you don't know about me. Let's do it!
- We get a fish oil and a co-enzyme Q10 capsule every night. I am super excited to get my pills and I will do all sorts of tricks to get them. I think they're treats. the Mama hasn't bothered to correct me.
- Forget the stupid notion that "the humans should be the Alphadog". At Casa de Kolchak, I am the boss of the Mama and the Daddy. Period. I can get them to do exactly what I want and the best part is that they think that it's their idea. Not the Felix. As much as I want to be the Alpha, I'm not. I might be in charge of the Mama and the Daddy, but Felix is the boss of me. He rules this house with an iron paw.
- Lately, I have been waking the Mama up in the morning by mauling her like a cougar. Seriously, I come at her like a spider monkey and I won't let up until she is either laughing like a goon or really mad and telling me to knock it off. (the Mama's Note: Any trainers out there have any ideas on how to stop this one? Seriously. It's uncalled for.)
- I caught a squirrel once. Did y'all know those thing are furry? Kind of like a stuffed toy only with a really weird taste? Did you know the SQUIRM when you try to squeak them? What the bark, right? I was so surprised that I gobbed that squirrel right back out onto the lawn. I prefer my toys to be of the faux-fur/not-trying-to-escape variety, thankyouverymuch.
- When the Felix and I are excited to go somewhere, we each spin around in front of the door in perfect unison, just before the Mama opens it. It's like the woofing ice capades up in here. We call it "synchronized wagging" and we are the World Champions. The Mama has been trying to catch it on video, but she is too
dim witted andslow to catch us at it. - Felix used to attack you like your hands were made of sausage as soon as you came into our house. Over time, he has calmed down and now, he grabs a toy and goes to town on it. He doesn't actually chew his toys, he clamps his mouth down on them and coats them in slobber until they are too gross to touch and the Mama wants to barf just looking at the. His toys last forever, but they are crusty and gross. I won't even touch them.
- Once, in the dead of the night, I stood barking at the sideboard in the dining room until the Mama got up to make sure I was OK. (At least I assume that is why she got up. "What if your woofing problem, Kolchak" is a statement of concern, right?) She couldn't figure out WHAT my issue was, but finally she pulled out the sideboard to see if there was like a mouse or something that I had cornered back there. She found one single piece of kibble. I snarfed it up and went back to bed, leaving the Mama to put the dining room back together. This month we're trying to convey my super-sniffing ability into some training and fun with the Something Wagging Train Your Dog Month Challenge (or Train Your Dog Month Casual Glance, if you prefer). We've decided to tackle some beginners K9 Nosework.
Whew! Are you tired of hearing me woof on and on about myself yet?
I hope so because frankly, I've run out of things to tell you. This whole 7 things about me is hard! Now, the fun part, I get to pass this on to 7 blogs that I love. In keeping with the "kreativ" theme, I've tried to pick blogs that inspire me with their creativity!
(To my chosen bloggers, if you want to pass this on, awesome, but please do not feel obligated to do so. I chose you because I love your blogs, not because I hoped you would send a little link love my way.)
- Something Wagging This Way Comes - Something Wagging is one of the smartest dog blogs out there. Always well written and thoughtfully presented, I love Pamela's creative take on Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project. The Puppiness Project provides wit and wisdom on what our dogs can teach us about happiness.
- Two French Bulldogs - Benny & Lily make me laugh all the time. This fun blog doesn't take itself too seriously. Featuring the irrepressible Benny and Lily there is always a joke or two, a ridiculously cute picture and fun times going on at Two French Bulldogs. Don't miss Ba-Da-Bing Tuesdays where Benny (&Lily) answer reader questions.
- Foley Monster & Pocket's Blog - This dynamic duo of yorkies are the most creative storytellers i know. Their (mostly) true tales can bring a tear to your eye or make you roar with laughter. Their posts are filled with little dogs at their "slope-nosed" humans and they are filled with hilarious and smart jokes and pop culture references. Definitely worth the read.
- I Still Want More Puppies - Oh yes, there will be puns. Punny pet names. Punny song lyrics. Tons of lists. Awesome pop culture references and throw back memories of the things the rocked the Mama's world when she was a puppy. ISWMP is just good, creative fun.
- Rescued Insanity - I admire Kristine greatly for her style and creativity in training her rescue pup Shiva to do all sorts of crazy tricks. This girl can even train her CAT. (You don't get much more creative than that!) Her thoughtful posts on training, bonding with your dog and life in general often get me looking at things in ways I hadn't considered and she gets me all
subconsciously guiltyinspired and wanting to work on more training with Kolchak.
It just wouldn't be Kolchak's Kitchen unless we nominated a couple of our favourite Canine |Cuisine Artists.
- Kirby the Dorkie - Aside from being absolutely adorable, Kirby is also a great doggy dessert chef! His blog features simple and Delicious dog treat recipes that you can make at home. Our favourite is his recipe for savoury beef bits.
- Yuki & Rocket - These two adorable schnauzers have a Mom who is not only a whizz in the kitchen whipping up some tasty treats, but she photographs them so beautifully that even the Mama wants to try some. We love their Ham & Apple Treats.
In the famous words of Bug's Bunny, 'that's all folks!"
Time to head out and get creative! Do you read any blogs that inspire you with their creativity? We'd love to hea about your favourite Kreativ Bloggers!
