We heard your bark loud and clear.
We love creating our own homemade treats here at Casa de Kolchak. For the Mama, working in Kolchak's Kitchen relaxes her and sets her world to rights again when things get a little rough.
Not everyone has the time or desire to cook for their dogs though.
I get it life! Life is busy and some of you, (I'm not naming names) aren't exactly kitchen divas. So this year, we're exploring great dog treats that you can buy that are totally awesome as well.
Meet Kaiser, Spokesdog at Cookies for Kaiser
Kaiser is a very special pup. This White German Shepherd (mix) was on the euthanasia list when his family fell in love and rescued him. Kaiser came home from the shelter underweight, with severe dermatitis due to a flea infestation and a 104 degree fever due to bronchitis. Not only that, Kaiser was heart worm positive. His back foot had been badly broken and poorly healed. The list of medical care that Kaiser needed went on and on, but his Mom, Dawn, is determined to give Kaiser the best care she can offer.
Dawn started Cookies for Kaiser as a way to raise funds to treat Kaiser's heart worm and to get x-rays on his leg. Her dedication to Kaiser - and to high quality treats - shines though in her home baked, all-natural treats, which are made with organic ingredients (whenever possible).
With tasty flavours like Oven Baked Chicken, Ganny's Pot Pie & Peanut Butter Delights, there's something for every doggy. Dawn offered us a sneak peek at the ingredient listings and we were thrilled to see ingredients like fresh roast chicken, slow cooked pot roast and whole wheat flour. For grain-tolerant dogs, these are a treat you can feel good about giving. All the goodness of home made - with none of the fuss. (For all you grain-free hounds out there, Kaiser and Dawn are hard at work developing new grain-free treats, which they hope to debut this summer.)
A busy Mom of five, Dawn recently went back to college to help realize her dream of turning Cookies for Kaiser into a great business. Just a few weeks ago, Kaiser's vet took a good look at that broken foot and found that it's a hot mess. According to the dogtor, "Someone of something smashed it real good." There are multiple fractures that have healed wrong and it will require the work of a very very pricey canine orthopedic surgeon to correct the damage. Brave in the face of bad news, Dawn went ahead with plans to open a Cookies for Kaiser booth in their local market, hoping to earn enough money to help pay Kaiser's mounting veterinary bills.
