I should have known today was going to go south.
It all started when those Scottish Twins with the awkward glasses woke the Mama up with their ridiculous idea that walking 500 miles was in some way a romantic gesture. I mean really, it doesn't even make sense. When the first guy was all ♫ I would walk 500 miles ♪, the other guy shouldn't have offered to ♪ walk 500 more ♫. How is that even helping the situation? Do you even want the kind of girl that makes you walk that far? You know what he should have said?
"Really? I'm going to drive my car, so it looks like I'll beat you there.."
Now that would make sense. Whatever the reason, after waking up to a song about walking, the Mama felt a need to take us on a little walk of our own.
I think she was actually planning to make us walk 500 miles.
Don't get me wrong. I love a nice walk as much as the next dog, but this walk was verging on the ridiculous. It lasted...forever. The Mama and Auntie Brenda are in training for two very serious sporting events: The Warrior Dash and the Run for Your Lives. To start training they wanted to do a quick walk. You know. to see how long 5 km really is.
Um...it's far, Mama. Really far.
Did I mention that we live in "the hole"? All around our house in pretty much all directions have hills. This abundance of elevated land often lead people in our neighborhood to ask "Do you live on the Hill or in the Hole?", but I digress. That meant that at least a portion, a large portion, of this leisurely walk would be uphill. Both ways? Yeah it's like that awful stories that your grandparents used to tell.
I thought I was going to die.
No Joke. I learned a valuable lesson there, too. Next time the Mama asks if I want to go for a walk, I'll ask ask how far the Mama is going!
