Still no Mama at Casa de Kolchak. What the woof does she think she’s doing? Who is going to bake my treats if she never comes home? It’s just so rude of her! Luckily, we have fantastic blogger friends who have helped us out with some guest posts! Today, we have a Tasty Tuesday recipe courtesy of the Urban Hounds! My mouth is watering just looking at it!

Norbert recently celebrated his 10th Birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY NORBERT!

Norbert celebrated with a Birthday Bash that looked woofing awesome and you can read all about it. One of his birthday highlights was a cake that his Mm made himself. The Urban Hounds are Tasty Tuesday regulars and we are so excited that they agreed to share one of their yummy recipes here at Kol’s Notes. Check it out!

Tasty Tuesday: Norbert’s Fruitarian Ice Cream Birthday Cake

Ingredients:

  • ·1 quart soy milk vanilla ice cream, softened (Is your dog allergic to soy? Try Kol’sPeanut Butter & Pumpkin Ice Cream instead)
  • ·2 apples, diced
  • ·1 pint blueberries
  • ·1 cup diced strawberries
  • ·Pet Fairy Pet Nosh or canned pumpkin
  • ·Your dog's favorite cookies, we used Pugs in The Kitchen's Grain Free Chicken-Lavendar Cookies

Instructions

Use a cake pan or other baking dish (I used a souffle dish) for your cake. Place a layer of cookies at the bottom or your cake pan and top this with a layer of soy milk ice cream and then a layer of fruit. Repeat this layering two more time ending with a layer of ice cream. Spread a think layer of Pet Fairy Pet Nosh or canned pumpkin on the top of your cake and then top this with a layer of cookies. Wrap in plastic wrap and freeze at least 8 hours or over night.

Enjoy!
Norbert is one of the Urban Hounds and lives in New Jersey about a half an hour outside of Manhattan.   He was adopted as a puppy from the NYCACC animal shelter in Staten Island.  Norbert is a mystery mix, possible guesses include Lab, American Pit Bull Terrier, Pointer and Great Dane, but he prefers to be known as simply a great dog.   He is celebrating his tenth birthday this July.  Norbert loves fruit and his Dad has referred to  him as a Fruitarian since the time, roughly 9 years ago, that he ate an entire large size bowl of fruit, stems and all.  Thankfully, he recovered fully. In honor of his fruit fetish I wanted to make Norbert a fruit centered birthday cake .
